Stencil-art muralists SNIK will kick off July’s proceedings for Nuart in Aberdeen, the third artists on the lineup following KMG and Henrik Uldalen. The ongoing line-up of ‘artists in residence’ have acted as Nuart’s antidote to the logistic challenges of creating art events during a year of restrictions.
SNIK draw inspiration from the pre-raphaelite era of portraiture, working with painstakingly-hand- cut, multi layered stencils to add astonishing levels of detail to their murals. No stranger to critical acclaim for both large-scale efforts and smaller canvas work exhibited across the world, the duo capture timeless, elegant female figures in moments of loneliness and acceptance.
In a year that has meant isolation for us all, SNIK bring a particularly timely snapshot of vulnerability to the city.
